Mawkish (Romans 14:1-12)

Good morning ladies,

The word of the day is “mawkish.” Today's passage of Scripture highlights the fact that Christians are different in many ways. The way that people worship God can be different according to one's faith tradition, but when it really comes down to it most of us believe the same things when it comes to the important issues in the Bible. In this passage, the Apostle Paul is making a case to God's people about accepting one another for who they are.

For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.’ ”So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.

~Rom 14:9-12

My question is: are you an encourager in the lives of other people with whom you associate? I guess what I'm really trying to say is that we as Christians need to love one another for a whole bunch of reasons. For one, God commands it. But also we must realize that people on the outside of the Christian bubble are always looking in to see if they would like to be a part of our family, rather than making them have a mawkish, or bad taste, about the Chrstian life. My prayer is that you give them a reason to want to give God a try in their lives.

Greeting (2 Corinthians 1:2-4)

Good morning ladies,

The word of the day is “greeting.” One of the many reason I really like the Apostle Paul is his ability to make others understand their importance in God’s eyes. I mean think about it, for a pretty in-your-face type of guy he always knew what the peeps needed to hear. He did not always tell them what they wanted to hear, but his message was spot-on. His greeting at the beginning of each letter was really important to let the church know his affection for them. When writing to the homies, he always started by giving mad love…

“May all the gifts and benefits that come from God our Father and the Master, Jesus Christ, be yours! Timothy, someone you know and trust, joins me in this greeting.”

2 Cor. 1:2

Wow! Now that is a greeting… my question is: do others receive a Paul-like vibe when you greet them? What is mean is that Christians need to greet one another with love, and all the good stuff that God has provided. My prayer is that you are the person that everyone wants to get a call from. Encourage others and let them know that they matter in God’s eyes. Each of you ladies is sooooo special and God wants to use you to prosper the Kingdom. Get out there and greet someone today!

Selfless (John 15:13)

Good morning ladies,

The word of the day is “selfless.” I was chattin’ it up with one of my buddies yesterday and he was saying some good stuff about friendship and teamwork. He mentioned that he believed one of the biggest detriments to a team was selfish acts and not looking out for others. He made a great point that if team members, whether in sports, business, or life took an approach of selflessness then we would start seeing some great stuff happen. JC said it best:

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.

Wow. I think the Savior knew a thing or two about this statement. This season you have so much to think about – responsibilities are of no shortage in each of your lives right now. As a team we have the opportunity to be even stronger than if we were on our own. My question is: What will it take for you to become the kind of friend in the above passage? God has given us life, friendship, and team. I pray that each of you asks the Lord to make you a better friend each day, both on our team and in your daily relationships.
