Litotes (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Good morning ladies,

The word of the day is “litotes.”  The Apostle Paul spoke of the good stuff associated with the word of God in our lives as Christians.  He knew that other people were always looking toward him for answers.  He did not take the lightly.  In fact, he seldom gave an answer that was very far from scripture.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, ¹⁷ so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

~2 Tim 3:16-17

Paul knew that there was nothing outside of God's word that could really speak to people. As an arrogant man his entire life, God used this to humble Paul and keep him focused on the word. Whenever Paul wanted to get away from his humility and understanding of what God wanted him to do, we can see in this passage that is respect for God's word was unmatched. Saying that God’s word was useful was definitely a litotes, or understatement.  My question is: how do you view God's word? Do you use it to make decisions in your life concerning yourself and others? I pray that you not only apply God's word to your life, but also pray God's word over others.
