Cynosure (John 5:36-45)

Good morning ladies,

The word of the day is “cynosure.” The Jewish leaders back in the old days thought that if they read and understood Scripture that they would have a share of the life to come, and that those who did not know Scripture as well as them were somewhat cursed. Jesus pretty much through all of this upside down and let the people know that they must reconsider what is important.

“You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.”
~Jn. 5:39-40

My question for you is: where do you focus your attention when it comes to Jesus and his word? I think that a lot of us get caught up in the knowledge of things and forget that real spiritual worship is obeying Christ. And, if we just focus on trying to obey him and do what is right in his eyes then a lot of what we worry about would not be so burdensome. My prayer for you is that as you are tired and weary, you continually look to Jesus as the cynosure, or focal point of your worship; he is the author of Scripture. Look to him for strength and realize that everything else will come and go, whether it be school or a job or any other treasures that we store up here on earth. What is forever is the love and obedience that we have for Jesus, which will follow us to eternity.

Praying for you,

mo
